My Story

While residing in the Berkshires, Shana was a board member of the “Here at Home” Committee that welcomed both veterans’ home from deployments, and those that gave the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives while serving. When doing so, her passion to help connect veterans with additional support services grew. She volunteered to help organize Memorial Day, Veteran’s Day and Independence parades and marched in them with her family. Additionally, she helped volunteer for Veteran Family Day events and holiday toy drives. After relocating to SWFL in 2015, her mission was to connect with veterans In Charlotte County, identify support services for veterans and explore ways to implement new resources to improve their quality of life.

As co-founder, CEO/Treasurer and Secretary of “Helping Hearts for Heroes Corp.”, Shana uses her professional and personal experience to continue to advocate for veterans and their families. She has a strong commitment to advocating and helping individuals in need and has a Bachelor of Art in Psychology and Business Management. Additionally, she has extensive experience in client advocacy, care-management, geriatric care, human services and sales and marketing.  Also, she holds several certifications and is a certified Community Health Worker, Patient Navigator, Certified Senior Care Partner, Care Transitions Coach and Dementia Live Coach. When asked why she advocates for veterans, she replies “because they are group of individuals who sacrificed their lives for our freedom, and they are often forgotten about and never ask for anything in return.”
